![]() ![]() In general, the overall feel of the controller is pretty good, and like the other controllers in the Launch range it seems robust, though you should be careful with those high-profile faders which will obviously be fairly delicate in your backpack. When combined with Launchpad S's intuitive 64-button grid, this provides. It helps you focus more on your music and less on your laptop, by providing 16 buttons, 24 knobs and eight faders, all of which integrate seamlessly with Live to give you total hands-on control. It’s worth noting that all of the knobs do have a centre detent, which is useful for the pan control, but not so useful for sends A and B. Novation's Launch Control XL is the ultimate controller for Ableton Live. Notably, the faders are 60mm long and they feel great, especially for those times when you need to make precise adjustments, but not so great if you use them for rapidly turning effects up and down (eg the way a hip-hop DJ uses a crossfader). ![]() There’s also a Kensington security lock and, of course, a USB port. In factory preset mode, the knobs control pan, sends A and B the faders control volume, and the buttons do track focus and track control, so in combination with the function keys you have access to the mute/solo/record arm controls. The layout will be familiar to anyone who’s used a traditional mixer, offering a total of eight tracks with three knobs, a fader, and two buttons per track, as well as a load of function keys on the right hand side of the controller. And you can set what exactly is the "default session" in settings.First Impressions / Setting up We take a look at Novation’s Launch Control XL controller, meant to provide hardware controls for Ableton Live’s mixer section. I think that should work splendidly as well. For a small cash outlay, you can add physical controls in the form of a. Its the perfect companion to your Launchpad-S, giving you a portable Ableton Live rig with a tiny footprint that fits in your rucksack. One option might be to add a "Load default session" button below the already existent "Reload last session" button shown at launch. (There's still iOS bugs that in some rare cases make the host freeze forever when trying to load a faulty AUv3 plugin, and IAA zombies add 30 seconds timeout each, etc.) ![]() Though I might not want it to load any external apps (IAA or AU plugins) in case one introduces problems. This way we could make our own default project and AUM would load it every time. Would it be possible to make Aum load a specific project automatically at launch ? Like how ableton let's you load altered projects as default. I actually have no problem with it to be honest. Could be a setting in said: posted this to show that potentially all you have to do is set up your "programs" using the computer program and then recall at any date using the buttons to shift pages and viola new setup recalled. Since the MIDI mapping depends on the available parameters to map, it makes no sense to save/recall mappings separately from the session. The mapping is saved when you save the project though, so an easy workaround is making an init project and just loading that. So even if you made a ton of mappings in the controller editor you'd still have to midi learn every time.
